The Scottish Thistle Awards, Scotland's premier tourism and events awards are back for 2026
The Scottish Thistle Awards return for 2026, once again celebrating the people, places and experiences that make Scotland such an outstanding visitor destination. With 15 regional categories and four national‑only categories, the awards continue to champion the very best of Scotland’s tourism and events sector.
This year brings several important updates that Fife’s tourism and hospitality businesses should be aware of.
A major addition for 2026 is the new Positive Impact Inbound Tour Operator Award. This national‑only category recognises Scottish-based inbound tour operators and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) that promote responsible, sustainable and culturally sensitive travel to international visitors. It highlights the growing importance of operators who help protect Scotland’s natural heritage, culture and communities while delivering world‑class experiences for global audiences.
The awards have also refreshed their accommodation categories to better reflect the diversity of Scotland’s stay experiences. Businesses can now enter under Best Hotel, Best Accommodation or Unique Stay, or Best Self‑Catering or Exclusive Use. These updates acknowledge the evolving accommodation landscape and ensure the awards continue to showcase the full breadth of what Scotland offers.
With excellence celebrated across accommodation, food and drink, outdoor experiences, events and visitor attractions, the awards remain an important platform for recognising the businesses and individuals driving Scotland’s visitor economy forward. Headline sponsor Abbey: The Destination Experts returns for 2026, continuing its long-standing support.
Nominations are open until 30th March, with entries opening on Monday 16 March.
Fife businesses are encouraged to review the updated categories and consider putting themselves forward for recognition in Scotland’s leading celebration of tourism and events.
