Welcome to Fife is thrilled to present “Kirkcaldy and Adam Smith: A Wealth of Inspiration”, a short promotional film to promote the Lang Toun of Fife, Kirkcaldy. Follow Adam Smith through the town and experience the allure of Kirkcaldy as a must-visit tourism destination.

The short film, created by local company Midgiebite Media, highlights the town's unique appeal, transports viewers on a virtual exploration of Kirkcaldy's picturesque landscapes, vibrant culture, and charming streets. From breath-taking views of the Firth of Forth to the bustling Merchants Quarter, the film beautifully captures the essence of Kirkcaldy's charms.

One of the key highlights of the film is the prominent presence of Adam Smith, a renowned philosopher and economist who was born in Kirkcaldy and lived there most of his life. Celebrated as the father of modern economics, Smith's intellectual legacy continues to resonate across the globe. Publishing a range of notable works, including the hugely influential 'Wealth of Nations', Smith has made a significant contribution to modern day economics and politics. The film pays homage to these significant contributions and positions Kirkcaldy as a place where visitors can immerse themselves in Adam Smith’s remarkable story.

Highlighting the vibrant arts and cultural scene, the film features the soon to be opened newly refurbished Adam Smith Theatre, a cultural hub offering a diverse range of performances and events throughout the year.

The film has been released to coincide with the Adam Smith Festival of Ideas, the Tercentenary celebrations of the world-renowned economist and philosopher.  To celebrate this special anniversary, the Adam Smith Global Foundation have planned a busy programme of events, including talks and lectures from internationally renowned academics, economists, authors, politicians, and philosophers.
