Invitation to Participate in the Workforce Mobility Project in Fife!

Participate to play a crucial role in shaping a more efficient and sustainable transport network for Fife.

The Workforce Mobility Project, funded by the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal, is supporting Fife Council to understand key travel patterns across the region to help inform transport, spatial planning, and economic decision making. Employers and educational institutions in Fife are invited to participate in the current round of engagement.

The team are in the process of gathering data from employers and higher education providers, which will help them to map out where future improvements could possibly be made to public transport and active travel route provision. In order to do this, they are looking for organisations to provide some anonymised data for staff, specifically: home postcode, postcode location for regular place of work or study, and, approximate working pattern.

How can you help?

• The team are looking to collect anonymised employee data from partners across the region to allow Fife Council to understand how our workforce travel needs are catered for by the public transport system.
• The data that is being requested are the business postcode, employee postcode and shift times.
• A data template is provided to allow businesses to populate their data and return it to workforcemobilityproject@scotborders.gov.uk

Why take part?

• The Workforce Mobility Team will provide you a full analysis of the journeys available to your employees/students traveling to and from your premises. Sustainable journeys include:

• Bus/Train and other public transport
• Walking, wheeling, and cycling
  
  You can use this analysis to:
• Develop and employee workplace travel plan (There may be free support available via Travel Know How Scotland)
• Encourage behavioural change by your employees/students
• Consider adjusting shift times to align with public transport schedules

• You will receive a funding and investment factsheet that identifies all of the behavioural change initiatives, grant funding and tax incentives that are available this financial year to allow the investment in your employees to support a change in travel habits.
• Your participation in the engagement process will positively contribute to the identification of key areas of improvement. This has been successfully delivered in East Lothian (case study attached) and in the Scottish Borders with a full bus network review being delivered with a phased implementation that is already delivering new services and increased bus patronage.
