Fife's first Food & Drink Week set to suit all tastes

Fife is home to some of the very best food and drink in Scotland, and this Spring we will be celebrating and showcasing our wonderful food and drink producers and businesses at the first Fife Food & Drink Week.

From 9th to 17th March, Welcome to Fife are encouraging visitors and locals to treat their tastebuds and celebrate all that’s great about food & drink in the Kingdom at events across the region. There’s a great line up to choose from and hopefully something to suit all tastes.

The hugely successful Bowhouse Market returns in March with a theme of ‘Grow your Own’. It’s a real food lovers treat with a great selection of food and drink traders from Fife and beyond in a lovely setting in the East Neuk of Fife. Also back for March is Cupar Market which also has a focus on local producers. At Falkland Estate there is a pop-up market at the Stables featuring some of the best food and drink around, and The Larick Centre in Tayport are holding a foodie market with lots of stalls offering local produce, from bread and cakes to preserves and jams, and from apple juice to beer and gin. The Centre is also doing a fruit tree give away at their beautiful community garden.

Fife has lots of great restaurants, cafes and food venues and there are some delicious special menus to choose from during Fife Food & Drink Week. The Michelin starred The Peat Inn Restaurant With Rooms in the East Neuk has a special Mother’s Day Lunch, and Rufflets St Andrews has special lunches and afternoon tea on Mother’s Day too. You can also celebrate Mother’s Day at the The Ship Inn, Elie (free glass of Prosecco for Mum!) and the The Den at Culross - Weddings with a Tipsy Tea. Kingsbarns Distillery & Visitor Centre are launching their new Cream Teas on Mother’s Day with a specially created Gin cocktail.

Teasses Estate will be holding Stag & Steak Nights featuring beef and venison from the estate, and The Boar's Head Fife, Restaurant & Pub in Auchtermuchty will be offering their exclusive Hunter’s Menu featuring the flavours of the Scottish wilderness.

Fife is of course renowned for its fish and chips, and you’ll be able to enjoy a great value fish tea at the Balcomie Links Hotel in Crail. You can enjoy a Sunday treat with a Champagne Brunch at Chef Dean Banks Dune Bar in St Andrews. Make a night of it with a Winter Foodie Escape to Rusacks St Andrews, including an exclusive winter-only dining experience.

St Andrews Cocktail Week is back too - whether you’re a fan of the classics, or looking for something more adventurous, there’s lots to choose from at venues across the town. If you want to make your own cocktail there’s a masterclass at The Balcomie Links Hotel in Crail, and at Darnley's Gin Distillery you can learn all about gin and make your own unique blend. Tayport Distillery are holding an open day where you learn how their spirits are made, and they are also running a Liqueur Masterclass. There’s a special Whisky and Food Pairing Tour at Kingsbarns Distillery featuring food from Fife's own larder.

At Abbot House in Dunfermline you can learn all about Honey at a unique talk and tasting experience, you can also try your hand at spoon carving at a special workshop. Abbot House is also hosting a Mindful Breakfast. Just along the road in Limekilns the Sundial Cafe will have a special menu featuring beautiful food & drink from around Fife.

For something a bit different take your own food and drink to an afternoon of Parisian Café Music in Crail.

Another event returning this March is the popular Fife College Food Festival which is a great day out for all the family with a full programme of demonstrations by industry professionals and young talent, kids’ and adults' workshops, tastings and stalls, and the opportunity to purchase some great local produce.
