Car park improvements planned for Lochore Meadows Country Park

13 February 2026

Lochore Meadows Country Park is preparing for another busy year, with plans to improve the visitor experience for everyone who comes to the park.

One of the exciting key projects about to begin is the creation of additional car parking spaces. Funding has been secured to build a new tarmac car park next to the main visitor centre car park. This will provide around 65 additional marked spaces, helping the park cope better with the high number of visitors during busy times.

The project is being jointly funded by Fife Council’s Capital Programme, awarding £40,000 and £40,000 from the Cowdenbeath Community Recovery Fund. The aim is to reduce congestion during peak periods and make it easier and smoother for people to arrive and get parked.

Convenor of Cowdenbeath Area Committee, Cllr Alex Campbell welcomed the development saying:“Lochore Meadows is a much‑loved place for both local people and visitors, especially during the busier months. Increasing the number of parking spaces will make a real difference, helping more people access the park safely and easily. This investment shows our continued commitment to supporting outdoor recreation and improving local facilities.”

Work is due to begin in the coming weeks and should take around 1 week to complete.
