Our Resilient Heritage: Adapting Scottish Tourism to Climate Change
Climate change is bringing about more frequent and severe weather events, rising sea levels, and temperature fluctuations, all of which take a particular toll on the historic environment, which is often more exposed to the elements than newer structures.
Historic Environment Scotland (HES) and VisitScotland are hosting a FREE 2-part workshop, with a programme to find out how your business can adapt and build a resilient future.
The in-person workshop is happening on 26 October 2026 at the Engine Shed in Stirling.
This practical workshop is designed to help heritage tourism businesses building climate resilience into their business practices.
The programme is a mix of presentations, coaching, and peer-to-peer learning with facilitators who are adaptation experts working in heritage and climate. Participants will get resources on how to develop a climate risk assessment and adaptation planning, guidance on funding opportunities, certificate of attendance.
The follow up session takes place online on November 18 - where everyone can share progress and discuss challenges and explore practical solutions.
