Pop-Up Shop at Kirkcaldy Galleries to Showcase Wemyss Ware® Pottery’s New Christmas Collection
29–30 November 2025
Ceres, Fife — Wemyss Ware® is bringing festive sparkle to Kirkcaldy this season with a special pop-up shop at Kirkcaldy Galleries on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, featuring the launch of its new Christmas collection, An Illustrious Christmas.
The collection, created by Griselda Hill Pottery Ltd, features beautifully crafted Wemyss Ware® pieces enhanced with gold lustre. The collection’s title reflects not only the shimmering gold details but also the pottery’s illustrious fortieth anniversary year, which included a memorable encounter between Griselda Hill and His Majesty The King at Kirkcaldy Galleries. The King, a noted admirer of Wemyss Ware®, expressed interest in visiting the Pottery’s workshop in Ceres.
Visitors to the pop-up shop will discover a dazzling array of new festive designs — including a gold-crowned cabbage rose cat, charming mice, and even a comic “dirty” pig. Four new Wemyss Ware® tea towel designs will also make their debut, offering perfect gifts for the Christmas season. All items will be available for purchase alongside other much-loved Wemyss Ware® favourites.
A painting demonstration by the Wemyss painters and potter, featuring Christmas designs, will also take place between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 29 November at the Galleries.
The event comes at a time of exciting creative collaboration between Griselda Hill Pottery and Kirkcaldy Galleries, which celebrated its centenary this year. Joint projects have included the donation of 100 cat brooches, a new display cabinet showcasing the history of the Pottery, a specially designed cat artwork raffled to raise funds for the Galleries, and a schools “Design-a-Cat” competition.
Visitors to the Galleries can also admire the giant Wemyss Ware® Galle cat, currently displayed in the foyer. The sculpture is one of two large-scale Wemyss Ware® cats installed in Kirkcaldy ahead of the Wemyss Ware® Cat Sculpture Trail, set to run throughout the summer of 2026.
“The pop-up shop at Kirkcaldy Galleries is a lovely ending to a wonderful 40th year for the Pottery,” said Griselda Hill, founder of Griselda Hill Pottery Ltd. “We are very pleased with our new Christmas collection and tea towels, and hope to welcome lots of visitors to our pop-up shop as well as our Ceres shop.”
