Short-Term Let Control Areas in Fife - Public Consultation Now Live
Fife Council has launched a 12-week consultation to gather views on short-term lets and whether there is a need to introduce one or more short-term let control areas in Fife. The consultation is now live (16 June 2025) and is available online via Fife Council’s consultation platform, “Have Your Say” on Citizen Space.
The consultation is open to all members of the public, including businesses, residents and visitors, and aims to gather a broad range of perspectives to help inform the Council’s decision on whether to propose the designation of a control area. While the Council may make a proposal, any designation must be approved by the Scottish Government.
Introducing a control area would not mean a blanket ban on short-term lets. It would allow the Council to manage and guide the use of short-term lets in a way that supports local needs, aligns with the Local Development Plan, and considers other relevant factors.
