New funding opportunity opens for North Fife hospitality businesses
A new funding opportunity aimed at strengthening the hospitality sector is now open to businesses across North Fife, offering targeted support to help develop skills, build resilience and create clearer pathways into future leadership roles.
The latest application round for the Hospitality Skills Project, known as HospitaliTAY, opened on 25 May following strong early interest from businesses and individuals across the region. An expression of interest phase, which has been running since April, attracted a significant response and highlighted demand for funded training and workforce development support.
Delivered by Fife College as part of the wider Tay Cities Region Deal, the programme forms part of a long‑term regional effort to address skills shortages and support workforce growth across hospitality. The sector has faced ongoing challenges in recent years, including recruitment pressures and skills gaps, and the project takes a collaborative, employer‑led approach to help businesses respond to these issues.
The funding is designed to support people already working in hospitality, as well as those newly entering the sector in North Fife and across the wider Tay Cities Region. Through access to structured training, participants can develop professional skills, gain recognised qualifications and build confidence within their roles, while also being supported to progress towards supervisory and leadership positions.
For employers, the programme offers an opportunity to invest in staff development without carrying the full financial cost of training. By supporting businesses to upskill their workforce, the initiative aims to improve staff retention, strengthen management capability and help build more resilient, future‑focused operations across the region.
HospitaliTAY sits within a wider programme of activity that includes skills training, leadership development, and career pathway support, all designed to create a stronger pipeline of talent into the hospitality sector and support long‑term economic growth.
This stage of the funding is time‑limited, with applications closing on 7 June, giving eligible businesses a short window to take advantage of the opportunity. Following the deadline, those who are not ready to apply will be able to register for updates and remain connected to future activity.
Further funding opportunities are expected, with organisers indicating a future application round planned for 2027/2028, and stakeholders will continue to be notified in advance as applications reopen.
