£10million Fife project extended until 2027
A £10million project which has supported dozens of initiatives is to be extended until next year.
Fife Council has confirmed that the Levenmouth Reconnected Programme (LRP) will now run until March 2027.
The programme - funded jointly by the Scottish Government and the local authority - has already supported more than 100 community, economic, and environmental initiatives since its launch. To date, 19 large grants and 83 small grants have been awarded, supporting improvements from active travel routes and heritage regeneration to business development and community hubs.
With approximately £1.43m still available for allocation, and around £3.5m expected to roll into 2026/27, the Large Grant Programme will re-open so more organisations can come forward with proposals that support local priorities.
Councillor Alistair Suttie, convener of Levenmouth Area Committee, said: "Extending the Levenmouth Reconnected Programme gives us a valuable window to maximise the benefits of the rail link and back the kind of projects that make a real difference locally.
"This programme has already delivered substantial improvements across Levenmouth, and the additional year ensures every pound can be invested where it has the greatest impact.”
The initiative aims to unlock social, economic and environmental benefits linked to the renewed passenger rail service. Remaining funding will be focused on eligible projects demonstrating strong community benefit, aligned with transport connectivity, regeneration, skills, and sustainability.
A celebration event marking the conclusion of the programme will be held in Spring 2027.
