Agritourism & Farm Retail recognised at national level at NFU Scotland Annual Conference
Scottish Agritourism’s sector lead Caroline Miller was invited to speak at the National Farmers Union (NFU) Scotland Conference 2026, taking place in Glasgow today.
Caroline addressed the conference as part of the Farming Growth section, alongside senior political leaders including:
- John Swinney MSP, First Minister
- Mairi Gougeon MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform & Islands
- Jim Fairlie MSP, Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity
- Baroness Minette Batters, former NFU President
This invitation reflects the growing recognition of agritourism and farm retail as a core part of modern farming businesses.
During her address, Caroline highlighted the role agritourism and farm retail are playing as an essential marketing arm for the wider farming sector and strengthening consumer loyalty for Scottish reared and grown food.

Baroness Minette Batters (pictured) paid tribute to the work that Caroline has undertaken to develop the agritourism sector in Scotland, and hopes that this can be rolled out in the rest of the UK.
Caroline also showcased the upcoming Global Agritourism Conference 2026, which will be hosted in Scotland this June. The event will welcome over 1000 global delegates and is expected to leave a lasting legacy for Scottish agriculture, food and rural tourism.It was great to see so many Scottish Agritourism members at the NFU Scotland conference. Caroline said:
“10 years on from presenting on agritourism at the NFU Scotland conference in 2016, it is great to return to address the wider farming sector with an update on the national strategy, the significant growth in value of agritourism and farm retail and its role in contributing to farming family business profitability.”
