Industry Welcome to Fife

Newburgh Pontoon Proposal

The Tay Adventures Project, involving Fife, Perth & Kinross and Dundee City Councils, has been investigating proposals for how the River Tay may be used more regularly and play a more important role in building tourism, generating regeneration of the towns and village on the riverbanks and build stronger communities as a result.

As a means of ensuring Newburgh benefits from the wider project the team of Blue Sea Consulting, John Renshaw Architects and CRS Harbours have been asked, by Fife Council, to develop proposals for a pontoon on the River Tay  that would play a role in ensuring that more people visit the town, that more activities take place on and next to the river and that the community has more opportunities to be active on and next to the river.

Since autumn last year the team have been consulting with a range of groups and individuals to better understand what Newburgh has to offer, how a pontoon might work and what other activities and business opportunities it might generate. We have developed up some proposals to a point where we would like to share our ideas and, more importantly hear the views and ideas of the wider community on what they think about the provision of a pontoon and how it might benefit the community and the business.

On the 18th March, from 16.00 to 17.00, in the Tayside Institute Community Centre, we will be holding an Elected Members and Key Stakeholders to hear about what we’ve learned, what we think could be delivered and more importantly gather your views and ideas. After this introductory meeting there will be a Public Drop-Session from 17.30 t0 19.30 which you would also be welcome to attend.

Space for the Stakeholder Meeting is limited so please confirm if you will be attending or who will be attending from your organisation to martin.latimer@blueseaconsultingllp.com
